Growing Up

Dear Trey,

You are a whoppin 3 1/2 months old!  I can't believe how much you have grown! :)  You smile up a storm whenever we talk to you, and you laugh a lot.  You've finally decided I'm funny too, which makes me so happy!  I love your little laugh.

Right now you absolutely love your changing table.  We call it your "happy place" because even if you are crying, when we lay you on the changing table you give an instant smile!  You love to kick your legs too.  Especially while on the changing table.

You have also discovered your voice.  You used to just give little coos, but now we get to hear your sweet little squeals too!  You like to stand, but not for too long.  You are learning to like your bouncer.  Sometimes you can even bounce yourself :)  It always surprises you when you do it on your own, and it makes you smile!

You have a frog toy that sings when you push a button.  A couple of weeks ago you were trying SO hard to make it sing on your own!  I watched you for nearly 15 minutes as you tried to get your hands to cooperate.  I wanted to jump in and help, but I held strong and just cheered you on :).  Finally you did it all by yourself!  I was so excited for you!  I'm sure you were proud of yourself too :).

You are such a good baby.  You only cry when you need something...or when your daddy makes the seagull sound from "The Little Mermaid".  It terrifies you.  Your face crumples and you make the saddest face as you cry.  You don't like loud noises.

Lately you have turned into a "Slobber Monster".  Your shirt is always wet, and you're always drooling.  You like to suck on your fist too.  Once in a while you manage to get just your thumb in your mouth, but it's mostly your whole fist.  It bugs daddy.  He keeps taking your hand out and wiping it off, and you keep putting it back in when he isn't looking.  It's a constant battle :).

You are sleeping pretty good through the night.  You go to bed around 10:00 and get up around 7:00.  Daddy is really good at putting you to bed.  You always fall asleep in his arms.  Of course, he has a secret method to doing this.  He breathes on your face and makes you all warm.  Sometimes I think he must need a breath mint.  The look on your face says it all :).

Well Baby, we are so grateful to have you in our lives!  We always thank our Father in Heaven for sending you to us.  We love you so much!

Love always,
Mama :)

Baby Giggles

My favorite sound in the world right now is baby giggling.  There's nothing sweeter!  The only problem is I cannot for the life of me get my baby to giggle for me!  He laughs at Dale non-stop.  He laughs for random people at church.  He WILL NOT laugh for me...until tonight.  I tricked him into it.  Dale was doing his normal goofy "ABOO" routine, and Trey was giggling up a storm.  Then Dale finished and I snuck in.  All I had to do was say "ABOO" and he gave me the HUGEST laugh!  He did it twice...then he realized it was me and stopped :(.  Oh well, at least I got 2 in!  My new goal is to get him to laugh without the help of Dale :).

Healing Field

For the last 10 years there has been a "Healing Field" in Sandy Utah.  I had no idea it even existed until one of my Visiting Teachers told me she and her family visited it for FHE.  I was intrigued, so I made Dale go with me that very same day.  It's a field full of flags that represent those who died during the September 11th terrorist attacks.  It's an amazing sight.  On each flag is a short synopsis of who each individual was, or what they did.  The field had such a peaceful spirit about it.  In my eyes it exemplifies patriotism.

These cards had the stories on the other side.

Gourmet Dining

A couple of weeks ago (yes, weeks...I need to learn from my friends Jessi and Erin's examples and be more on top of things :) our sweetheart husbands made us dinner.  Us girls got to relax with our kiddos while the guys cooked us a fabulous practically gourmet meal of feta cheese chicken, fruit salad, steamed veggies and dessert, the most important part!  Check out this feast!

Our Chef hubbies: Ryan, Dale, and Brett.  They humored us by wearing the aprons :)

Dale and Trey

After dinner we played "The Celestial Dating Game."  Dale and I were a little behind.  Apparently it's hard to win when your husband says your favorite season is "Pepper" and your favorite toy is "Chapstick" :).  The Millers rocked the game with an awesome win!  The Hymers were a close second, and then there was us.  We came in third.  Dale and I are going to study up and then demand a rematch :).

Lovin the Luau

Dale and I have been looking for fun activities that force us to leave our apartment. We've become mild hermits since having Trey, and decided it's time for us to join society again. We just happened to come across an ad for "Luau Day" at Gardner Village. Lucky us! They had a bunch of activities for the kids, and had some good food and awesome entertainment!

Dale and Trey struttin their stuff :)

Obviously we got a kick out of this!

Daddy and Trey!

Mommy and Trey :)

My sister, Sam, and my little nephew joined us for a little while.

Cousins...not the best pic, but it will have to do :)

Preston was a little jealous that his mom was holding someone else.  He was gently "patting" Trey at first, then started pushing him away :).  Don't worry, they'll soon be best buds!

Remembering

There are so many events I am behind with posting, but they can wait for one more day. Today I just want to remember.
Somebody somewhere once stated wisely, "Freedom isn't Free." I don't think I fully understood this statement until 10 years ago when I was in the midst of watching my dad pull out of the driveway to begin his first tour of duty in the Middle East. I think I understood it a little more shortly after that day as I watched America be attacked on September 11, 2001. And, I think I understand it even better today, on the 10 year anniversary of those attacks, as once again my dad is serving our country as an American Soldier. I think of him as he proudly hangs the American flag over his bed in Iraq, and as he wears his uniform in the 110 degree heat with honor. I think of him as he spends months away from his family in a foreign land. I think of him as he laces up his boots willingly. Why does he do all this? He serves today because "Freedom isn't Free."
